Telmisartan is one of the lesser known and not very popular medications used to treat blood pressure. It is sold under the brand name Micardis. Telmisartan is catagorized under the group of medications known as angiotensin receptor blockers known as ARBS. These medications are usually used if Ace Inhibitors end up being intolerable for an individual. ARBs lower blood pressure by relaxing blood vessels, which leads to an increase in the supply of oxygen to the heart and a decrease in blood pressure.
